Questions & answers
Which tree species can I choose?

BaumFrieden provides you with a carefully selected variety of twelve tree species. These include Japanese ornamental cherries, magnolia, rowan berries, winter and red oak, beech and blood beech. The range is complemented by ginkgo, birch, ornamental apple, common red thorn and black currant. All species are adapted to the climatic conditions in Germany.
How big is the tree when you hand it over?

When delivered, your tree is usually already 2 to 3 meters high. Smaller shrubs — such as currants — reach around 1 to 1.5 meters at this time.
When will the tree be delivered?

Delivery is preferred in spring or late summer. These periods offer the best conditions for healthy growth. We will arrange the exact date individually with you in advance.
Can I visit my tree during the growth phase?

Yes, a visit to the tree nursery in Kerkrade (NL) is possible by appointment. Viewing appointments can be arranged Monday to Friday between 9 a.m. and 4 p.m. Visits are also possible on Saturdays by appointment. Please have a valid identity card with you.
Will I receive information about the development of my tree?

After adding the ashes, we will issue you a certificate by post. You can also book photo documentation: In this case, you will receive a current picture of your tree every two weeks.
Can I plant the memorial tree in my own garden?

In Germany, there is a so-called cemetery duty, which only allows the direct removal of ash in cemeteries. At BaumFrieden, however, the ash is introduced into the tree in the Netherlands. You can then legally plant the tree in your private garden.
What happens if the tree does not thrive during the growth phase?

The rearing in Kerkrade is carried out under expert supervision. Only in rare cases (less than 2%) does it happen that a tree does not grow. Should this happen, you will of course receive a replacement tree.
Can I attend the Aschebeigabe in person?

Yes, you are cordially invited to attend the ceremony in Kerkrade.
How long does the tree stay in the nursery?

The growth phase is between four and nine months. During this time, the ash penetrates the roots until the tree is strong enough to be moved to its final location.
How does delivery take place?

After completion of the growth phase, the tree is prepared for transport. You can either pick it up in person in Kerkrade or have it conveniently delivered to a location of your choice in Germany.
